Before you read anything

I recorded this at 11:52 last night. Please listen first.

Me
11:52 PM

It's been raining all week

I'm sorry. Properly sorry.

No jokes on this one, you. Just the truth, and a window waiting for the sun.

Thursday, 11:40 pm

Hey,

I was wrong. Not 'sorry you feel that way' wrong. Actually wrong. You were telling me something that mattered and I was half on my phone. When you called it out, I got defensive instead of listening. Then I let us eat dinner in silence because I didn't want to be the first to say it. So I'm saying it first now. You matter more to me than being right. Every single time.

Sorry, and still yours

What I'm changing

Not promises for show. Things you'll actually see.

  1. Phone down

Face down when you're talking. Every time, not just this week.

  2. No more 'calm down'

    It's gone from my vocabulary.

  3. Say it out loud

If I'm upset, I'll tell you, instead of going quiet and making you guess.

  4. No sleeping on it

We don't go to sleep angry, even if it means talking till 2 am.

One promise, held

Hold it for as long as you like. Let go whenever.

Next time, I'll listen first and talk second.

Can we start again?

Whenever you're ready. No pressure, no rush.

Whenever you're ready

Any answer is okay. It comes straight to me, and I'll listen.

Okay. You're forgiven. Come here 🌤️
